LOVE (Quebec)’s intergenerational Holiday event was recently highlighted on CityNews Montreal!
This special gathering brought seniors and LOVE youth together for musical performances, a “get to know each other” bingo, a photography exhibition, and community building activities. Adding to the holiday spirit, several youth participants shared their musical talents with performances that enchanted the audience and invited everyone to dance and sing along, making for an afternoon of festivities, filling up the room with laughs and smiles.
While the holiday season is often seen as a time to get together, it is also increasingly important to talk about how for some, this time of year can be more isolating than ever.
“We wanted to kind of work to break that social isolation that can exist among seniors and young people, and bring those groups together and just create some holiday cheer,” said Robyn Dalton, LOVE (Quebec)’s executive director.
Events like this remind us of the power of connection and holiday cheer to bridge generational gaps. The shared stories, laughter, and wisdom exchanged remind us of the power of community, especially across generations. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success, from our youth, volunteers, community partners and donors! Together, we continue to build bridges and foster connection.
A huge thank you to Adriana from CityNews Montreal for choosing to highlight our story!
