LOVE launches a summer Book Club focused on queer graphic novels!

As LOVE kicks off our summer activities, we are happy to announce the launch of a summer Book Club, led by LOVE’s coordinators Maiya and Véro! The Book Club will feature queer graphic novels and invite youth and alumni to take part in discussions around the various topics these books highlight, from sexuality to friendship and relationships, family life, and more. The idea is to create a safe space for our young readers at LOVE to discuss books while promoting reading and queer stories.

The first book of the Book Club is Snapdragon, a lovely magical realist graphic novel where the protagonist befriends the local witch. Some themes the book covers are friendship, found family, identity and prejudice. The following Book Club will be released on Instagram, so make sure to be following the LOVE Quebec account, Maiya’s and Véronique’s!

We are excited to announce a collaboration with Librairie Bertrand as part of this Book Club, who are generously offering a 25% discount to all the members of the Book Club for their purchases. They have also donated books to LOVE for our own office library for youth, allowing for more youth to have access to queer graphic novels and stories! We are proud to support a wonderful independent bookstore in Montreal and help promote reading and queer stories through this initiative and are grateful to Librairie Bertrand for their support.
